When the Space Shuttle Discovery lifted off with John Glenn on Oct. 29th, 1998, on a journey into the history books, media coverage of the event was widespread. They trumpeted Glenn's return to space, and it solidified his status as an American hero.
Dataprobe’s contribution to this much ballyhooed event was a subtle but important one. NBC, one of the Dataprobe's more high-profiled clients, employed our communicating annunciator to simulcast the event. When NBC hit the record button on its cameras focusing on the Discovery launch pad, it automatically turned on the cameras for all of NBC's nationwide affiliates, including the cable channel MSNBC.
Dataprobe is honored to be part of this historic launch. It's just another example of how we've helped our customers to "extend their reach."
