Dataprobe's Expands T-1 Protection Switch Family with
Rack Mount Multi-Circuit System
|
Up to 15 complete, independent primary and redundant circuits can be supported in new rack-mountable chassis |
PARAMUS, NJ; November 12, 2005 ---
Dataprobe, a leading manufacturer of innovative technology solutions for networking, systems and site management, has expanded the T-APS product family to provide automatic protection switching for sites with multiple circuits.
The new system ensures protection for up to 15 T-1 or E-1 circuits by providing automatic failover switching in the event of line or equipment failure. In addition to the automatic capabilities, the system is manageable via SNMP, Telnet or serial interface. The switches can be used in several configurations to protect both equipment redundancy and line redundancy applications.
The system consists of the T-APS-R-15 chassis and T-APS-R cards. Each card operates independently, monitoring the T-1 or E-1 circuits and determining the best path, based on user supplied parameters. The chassis is adaptable to -48VDC or worldwide A/C power.
The T-APS-R provides automatic protection switching for users with T-1/E-1 lines by connecting up to 15 phone or data systems to alternate links. The switches then automatically toggle to the redundant link when the quality of the line begins to fail. Through the local and remote configuration, users are able to manually select the quality level at which the line will activate the switches, based on their specific needs.
"The chassis system provides larger sites with an effective solution for protecting multiple circuits from line degradation and failure," said David Weiss, CEO of Dataprobe. "Customers of the single circuit version were requesting this for their larger installations."
All of the features of the standalone T-APS are supported in the card version. The following are some features that help elevate the manageability and value of the T-APS-R protection switch for end-users:
- End-to-end or single-ended applications for 'last mile' protection
- Line or Equipment protection applications
- LED indicators for detailed status monitoring
- Selectable alarm threshold and switching activation thresholds, enabling administrators to control the quality of service
- Configurable via front panel or RS-232 port, providing local and remote management capabilities
- Active and standby line status monitoring, ensuring redundant line availability
- T-1/E-1 circuitry relay alarm output, automatically notifying administrators when lines fail or fall below acceptable service levels
- Power-fail cutout circuit, ensuring communications connectivity in the event of power failure
The T-APS-R-15 rack-mountable chassis is available with control card for $1,175 and T-APS-R rack-mounted cards start at $895. Available models are sold via Dataprobe's Web site and through its reseller channels.
