Dataprobe's Stunt Box can monitor an RS-232 data channel and four additional bi-state alarm inputs. Upon detection of a preprogramming 'Alarm String' or a change in an input, the unit will generate an alarm message to a PC, terminal, printer, modem or personal pager. The SB-4 can also be used as a remote switch control system, linking relay outputs to alarm states, or providing RS-232 or modem control of relays. These control relays can be connected to Dataprobe's power switching modules or A/B switches

The SB-4 sits in series on an asynchronous channel and monitors data as it passes through the unit. Eight alarm strings, of up to 32 characters each can be programmed. Upon detection of any of these strings, the SB-4 will generate an alarm message. Each alarm string can have an associated Clearing String, that deactivates the alarm. If clear strings are not used, then the alarm will regenerate each time it occurs. |
Alarm Input Monitoring |
The SB-4's alarm inputs monitor contact closure/open or RS-232 high/low conditions. Each input has an associated qualifying time, selectable from .01 to 99.99 seconds. |
Alarm Report Generator |
When an alarm condition occurs, the SB-4 will generate an alarm message, indicating the name of the circuit and the location of the unit (if used). This message can be direct RS-232 output to a computer, terminal or printer, or can connect through a modem link to any location, and/or a paging service. An internal modem option is available. The SB-4 supports standard AT dialing phone numbers, and TAP protocol for numeric and alphanumeric pagers. In/Out alarms can also generate a relay closure. Each alarm string or input can have one of the four output relays associated with it, either steady on or momentary. |
Relay Switch Control |
The SB-4's output relays can either be assigned to one or more alarm events, to be turned on or pulsed when an alarm condition is detected, or controlled remotely via the Command Port. These relays can be used to control Dataprobe's K-Series of communications or power switches. |
