The 8 Position Code Activated Switch, Model 8PK-SCS allows one master RS-232 port to be selectively switched to any of eight RS-232 devices, designated A through H. The 8PK-SCS is used to allow one modem to access the configuration or out-of-band management ports of eight remote devices. Three modes of operation allow the selection of the port to be connected. Data rates up to 115.2Kbps are supported.
There are eight LED's on the front of the 8PK-SCS to indicate which port is connected to the master. There are eight DB25S female connectors on the rear panel for the switched ports, (designated A-H) and one DB25P male connector for the Master Port. The 8PK-SCS also supports an internal modem option. Dataprobe supplies modems from 2400 bps to 56Kbps. This modem can be factory or field installed.
With the addition of controllable relays, the 8PK-SCS allows network managers to instantly switch to standby or backup circuits or systems, reboot crashed equipment or activate environmental controls. The control relays in the 8PK-SCS use the same code format, and the same menu selections as the SAS. Dataprobe's A/C controllable power modules and strips interface directly with the 8PK-SCS for power reboot, security power off, or energy management to any devices. The K-AB series of communication switches provide redundancy switching for standby systems or backup circuits
